July Beauty Favorites

Hello, friends! July went by so quickly! I haven’t been wearing a ton of makeup lately. I’ve actually been investing in more skincare so that I don’t have to wear as much makeup. Here are some products that I’ve really been enjoying using.

NYX Butter Lipstick in “Little Susie”

My favorite look as of late is a bare face, a touch of mascara, and a pop of lipstick. This lipstick is so smooth and adds a beautiful touch of color.

Formula 10.0.6 Down To The Pore Strips

Why haven’t I discovered these before? I look forward to using one of these every Friday. All you have to do is wet your nose, apply the strip, and remove it after 15 minutes. Afterwards, you can see all the nasty gunk that was trapped in your pores. It’s a real treat.

St. Ives Even & Bright Pink Lemon & Mandarin Orange Scrub

I didn’t know pink lemon was a thing, but it’s been doing great things for my skin. It makes my skin so much smoother and clear! It also smells like a fruit basket. I highly recommend this product. Thanks, St. Ives.

Covergirl “The Super Sizer” Mascara Review

Hello, friends! I recently purchased this new mascara by Covergirl, and I’m here to tell you what I think. This product has been getting some rave reviews, so let’s see what’s up with this mascara.

I like the packaging a lot! It’s simple, but I think it’s really cute. The actual wand is interesting, though. Rather than having longer bristles at the bottom, they’re longer at the top. When applied, this adds more length and volume to the inner part of the lash line .

Because of this unique quality, it was interesting figuring out the best way to apply the mascara. It was fine using it on one eye, but I found that I had to switch the position of my hand to fit it to the other eye. The directions advise you to twist the wand while applying, because the bristles are different all around. It was a little bit more difficult to apply the mascara to the bottom lashes, though. The product would build up and cause clumping and smudging.

The product definitely added length and volume, which is all I could ever want. I added two coats to get my lashes to look the way I wanted them to. My lashes looked long and full, almost as if I was wearing false lashes. I was very impressed.

Overall Thoughts

Though it’s a bit more difficult to apply, I really like this mascara. It makes my lashes very long and defined-perfect for everyday use. I highly recommend this mascara and encourage you to try it out.

Lessons On Leadership

Hello, friends! I just got back from spending the entire day at school; leading transitional Freshman around the school and later, leading the student council retreat. I am Student Body President at my school and with that comes a lot of responsibility and trust on my shoulders. After all of the facilitating of events today, I am physically and emotionally exhausted. However, all that went down today taught me a good lesson about being a leader.

Getting a ton of people to listen to you and participate in what you planned is not always easy. I learned that you have to accept that people will have different opinions and their interest/disinterest  in certain activities shouldn’t be taken personally. Sometimes you just have to go with what’s in the best interest of the whole group in order to make things work, even when it doesn’t make you the most popular person. Based on my experience, I concluded that you can’t always be the fun one. Sometimes, you have to step up and be the boss to get the job done. There’s a time to be social and fun, but there’s also a time to take charge and work in the best interest of others.

I love to lead and I feel like today gave me a better idea of what a leader is. Hopefully, I’ll continue to learn about leadership and grow as a person and leader.
