Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation First Impression

Hello, friends! I hope all of you are doing well. A couple days ago, I posted a beauty haul featuring  different products that I wanted to  test out for you guys and today, I’m going to be sharing what I think of the Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation. Enjoy!

The Basics:

Price: $5.99 for the foundation and $3.99 for the concealer

Where to purchase: This product can be found at most drugstores and on their website. I purchased mine at Riteaid.

Shade range: The website features 20 different foundation shades, though not all drugstores carry the full range of shades. As for concealers, there are six shades. My foundation is in Golden Beige and the concealer is in Medium Tawny.

Claims: This foundation claims to give a flawless finish under seven light conditions, which makes it great for flash photos! Woo! No flashback!

Packaging

The foundation comes in glass packaging, which is really nice for such an affordable price! It also contains a spatula applicator, which makes it easy to dot the product on the face. Though I would prefer a pump to dispense the product, the spatula does save time in application.

The packaging for the concealer is simple, but reminds me of the packaging for the NARS creamy radiant concealer.

Application

Before applying this foundation, I used the Benefit Professional primer to prime the skin and help with the longevity of this foundation.

To apply the Photofocus foundation, I used the spatula to dot the product all over my face and blended it out with a sponge. It definitely took some blending in order to apply it evenly, but after a little bit of work, it looked fine. I also noticed that caked a little bit around the corners of my nose, but nothing a little extra blending couldn’t fix!

I really like this color for my skin tone and found that it gave a smooth, flawless finish. It definitely gives medium coverage and can be built up. The foundation was slightly tacky after I finished applying it, but once this foundation set, my skin felt silky to the touch and mattified, overall. I really like the way this foundation looks!

After applying foundation, I applied a little bit of concealer under my eyes. I really like this concealer, as well! I like that the applicator is really spongey, so it doesn’t apply too much product. I found that the concealer also gave pretty good coverage, though it wasn’t great for spot concealing my blemishes. I will probably just use this under my eyes.

I also wanted to see how other Wet n Wild products reacted with the foundation and concealer, so once I set my face with powder, I applied the Wet n Wild blush in “Mellow Wine” and the highlighter in “Precious Petals”. I really like these two products and found that they set well on the skin.

The Photo Test

Ah! A picture of me! I wanted to see if the foundation lived up to its claim as a photo friendly foundation. In this picture, the color of my face looks slightly off from the rest of my skin, but the foundation photographs well. I definitely agree with its photo friendly claim.

Wear

As far as the wear of this foundation, I was thoroughly impressed by how it looked throughout the day. My oily skin was only slightly shiny three hours in and I didn’t feel the need to blot until wearing it for about five hours. My skin looked flawless for the majority of the day, though it started to wear off around hour eight. I did wear this product for about twelve hours, though. It didn’t stay flawless for all this time, but it didn’t completely melt off! I also had a really busy day of running errands!

As far as how it reacted to the highlighter and blush, these two products ended up wearing off.

Overall Thoughts

I really like this foundation and concealer, and for the price, I think it’s a great deal! It gives really great coverage and wears beautifully–the photo friendly feature is an added bonus. The only qualm I have about this foundation is that I wish it had a pump and I noticed some breakouts on my nose at the end of the day. I know. I really like this foundation and was disappointed that I had broken out by the end of the day. I did notice that this foundation didn’t claim to be oil free, so it may have led to the breakout. I don’t know if I will wear this foundation again, because I don’t want to risk a negative reaction from my skin. But I’m conflicted, because I think this foundation gives great coverage!Granted, I did wear this foundation for quite sometime and there may have been other factors that led to my angry skin, such as the greasy food that I’ve been eating the past couple of days. I don’t want to tell you not to buy this foundation, because I really like it and appreciate how affordable it is. However, I did break out after wearing it, so I would be cautious if you have sensitive skin.

I hope you enjoyed this review, you guys! Let me know if you have tried out this foundation and what you think of it! Have a great day!

What’s in my Purse?

Blackbird

Hello, friends! We’re all a little nosy, right? And finding out what is in other people’s purses is so fun! I’ve watched plenty of YouTube videos where beauty gurus will share their bags and their on-the-go essentials, and I feel like what we carry is very revealing of who we are. So here’s a little piece of who I am!

The Bag:

I actually got my purse from a shop in Florence, Italy. Florence is known for their leather shops and sell a wide variety of different goods, including purses. I have purchased a few purses from Florence and have consistently used and been impressed with them. I especially love this bag, because it’s a beautiful color and very wearable. It’s not too big, but carries everything that I need. It’s also a really classic design, so I can wear it anywhere and keep it for a long time.

What’s Inside?

There is a lot of crap inside of my bag, but it’s all crap that I feel like I need to carry with me.

I’ve got the essentials, like my wallet, which is the perfect size for this bag and carries everything that I need. I also have my $2 sunglasses, because I’ve either broken or lost every pair of sunglasses I’ve ever owned. I don’t trust myself to buy expensive sunglasses! I like to carry a Tide-to-go pen, in case me or someone else needs it and my hand sanitizer is great to carry, as well.

Some of my other essentials include my Rohto eye drops, that are great to combat eye irritation and redness. I actually don’t use these too much, but they’re helpful to have if I ever need them. I also have a tampon, because I am a girl and I need to be prepared! It’s also nice to have one in case one of my friends needs one. Woo hygiene!

In addition to these items, I also have some beauty items. I like to carry a travel perfume, in case I ever need to freshen up. I have the Viva La Juicy and Viva La Juicy Noir, so I have options if I ever want to put some perfume on. I like that both of these scents have a  fresh, clean scent. I also have some lip products, such as my Burt’s Bee’s chapstick in “Pink Grapefruit”, which smells amazing! It’s also really moisturizing, which is a plus.  I like to have some colored lip products, as well, so I have the Makeup Forever Artist Rouge lipstick in N9 (my favorite lipstick!) and the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes. These are great, everyday colors that I throw on to freshen up my look.

The last couple of things in my bag are my headphones and pepper spray. I love listening to music and always have to have these on hand. I have a tendency to lose my headphones, so these are just $10 headphones from Sony. I like how colorful they are and that the spongey outside keeps them in my ears! I carry pepper spray, just in case. It’s a little bulky, but it’s comforting to have it on hand.

Those are all the things that I keep in my purse! I’m actually surprised by how much I carry around with me, but they all fit in my small bag, so I guess it’s not too much! I hope you enjoyed this post and would love to hear from you all in the comments!

Summer Beauty Haul: Drugstore and High End

Hello, friends! I am coming to you all with a  beauty haul! There were a ton of products that I wanted to try, both drugstore and high end, so I purchased them and am hoping to use them for future blog posts. So stay tuned in to Love Ling, and I’ll let you know how these products worked for me! Enjoy!

**Disclaimer: I am not bragging and I purchased all of these products myself. I just wanted to let you know what products were on the market and how they worked out for me, so that you can enjoy or avoid them.

High End Beauty

Benefit the Pore Professional Primer: This is definitely not a new product on the market, but something that I’ve been dying to try for sometime now. It’s supposed to reduce the appearance of pores, as well as prep your skin for any makeup on top of it. I just got the travel size, because it’s a lot less expensive than the full size! It is pretty tiny, though. I’ve tried it once and I like the way it feels on the skin. I’ll let you know how it works with foundation and longevity in the future!

Tarteist Pro To Go Set: I was really excited about trying this set! It comes with an eyeshadow palette, a lip gloss, and a mascara. I have tried all of these products and really like them so far, especially the eyeshadow palette. For the price ($23), it’s a great deal! Be sure to look out for a review on this set soon.

Sephora Bright Set Loose Powder in “Banana”: I have never tried a powder like this before. It’s a loose powder with a yellow tint for brightening and can be used to brighten or set your makeup. I’m still playing with this product, but I like the finish it gives my skin. I do, however, have a hard time with the packaging. I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong, but I have a hard time trying to get the product out.

Drugstore Beauty

Covergirl TruNaked Jewels Palette: I have been eyeing this product for such a long time and am so happy that I purchased it! The other Covergirl eyeshadow palettes have gotten rave reviews and I really enjoy this one, as well. I usually wear neutral shades, but I like that this palette allows me to incorporate a bit of color, while still being wearable. I’m a huge fan of the pigmentation and finish, too.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Bronzer in “Sunkissed”: This was recommended by Casey Holmes on YouTube (who I love!) and she uses it all the time in her videos. The powder is very smooth and features four different bronzing colors that you can mix together to get your perfect shade. I personally like mixing them all together to add some healthy warmth to the skin.

E.L.F. Blending Brush: I am pretty stingy with my money when it comes to makeup brushes, but I am so happy that E.L.F. provides affordable, yet high quality brushes. This blending brush is multi-functional–I can use it to pack on shadow, as a crease brush, and to blend! I think this is going to be one of my new favorite brushes.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation in “Golden Beige”: This product was also recommended by Casey Holmes, so naturally, I had to try it! This foundation is only $5.99 at the drugstore and claims to look great on the skin in seven different forms of light (helloo flash photography!) Expect a review on this foundation soon!

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer: I got this concealer to go with the foundation. It’s only $2.99, but it works great with the foundation!

Wet n Wild Highlighting Powder in “Precious Petals”: Another product from Wet n Wild! This highlighter is absolutely beautiful! It’s got a rose gold tint to it and is amazingly pigmented. Needless to say, Wet n Wild is killing it at the drugstore. Woo affordable makeup!

img_1019

Soap and Glory Body Spray in “Original Pink”: I am obsessed with the Soap and Glory hand cream and had to try out this body spray! The scent is very fresh, but not too sweet. It’s a very affordable body spray, so I recommend trying it out!

Victoria’s Secret Body Oil in “Coconut Milk”: I tried the body butter version of this scent and absolutely loved it! I’ve never tried a body oil, but I’m hoping that it will give me a nice glow if I want to go out to dinner or go to the beach. The scent is very tropical, with notes of coconut and lime. I appreciate that it’s not an overpowering scent, though.

Victoria’s Secret Roller Ball in “Bombshell”: With the coupon I had, I got this roller ball for free. I really like the scent of this perfume and really appreciate that it stays on. To me, it kind of smells like clementines–it’s got a very fruity, flirty scent. I’m definitely going to get a lot of use from this in the summer.

Organix Hydrating Oil Mist: My hair has been so dry lately! I wanted to try this out so that I can add shine and moisture to my hair without weighing it down. I’m still trying it out, but so far, I like how light it feels and that it seems to soften my hair.

Thank you so much for reading this post and I hope that it inspired you to try out some new beauty products for the summer. As you can see, I’m not super big on spending large amounts of money on beauty products, so I hope to share some more affordable products with you.

Expect to see reviews on some of these products in the future! I’ve already started testing things out for you guys! Have a great day!
